Otto

CHAIRMAN: OTTO WYPKEMA

Otto Wypkema is the Managing Director of Arwyp Medical Centre, one of the largest independently owned private hospitals in South Africa, and the first private hospital in Africa to be ISO 9001:2000 certificated and now COSASA accredited.He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the National Hospital Network. He started his career in the healthcare industry in 1985. Otto has five daughters and a son and enjoys flying in his spare time.

Ismail

Vice-Chairman: Ismail Bhorat

Ismail Bhorat is currently an Executive Director of Melomed Hospital Holdings. After completing his schooling career at Diocesan College (Bishops) in 2001, Ismail pursued a Business Science Degree majoring in Finance and Accounting at the University of Cape Town which he finished with honours in 2005. Ismail then joined the Melomed Group where he has occupied various positions and remains till today. Ismail has served on the NHN Board for the past six years and is currently also the Vice-Chairman.

Amil

Amil Devchand

Amil Devchand joined the Lenmed Group in 2011 and was appointed to the Board in 2012. He has held numerous positions in Lenmed, most notably, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer. He was appointed as Deputy CEO in 2018 and CEO in 2020. He is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive industry experience, having served as the Chairman of the National Hospital Network (NHN), and as a current director of the Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA). He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, having completed the General Management Program.

Deon

Deon van Wyk

As Chief Executive Officer of Visiomed, Deon van Wyk presides over a group of companies and their respective divisions. He was previously sales and marketing director of Rolab pharmaceuticals SA, which merged with two multinational pharmaceutical companies to form Novartis the largest Pharmaceutical company world-wide at the time. Deon is passionate and dedicated to the total healthcare value chain and quality assurance in the Ophthalmological surgical field. He has gained vast experience in coordinating with all levels of hospital staff, administration and the healthcare professional. Deon is acutely aware of the challenges that private healthcare are facing in South Africa today and is a strong believer that any leader in healthcare today should have strong core attributes. He was elected to the NHN board in 2018 and are proud to serve Ophthalmology at large as discipline that can change patients’ lives.

Glenn

Glenn de Villiers

Glenn de Villiers is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Busamed Group after returning from Nigeria in 2019, where he headed up Euracare’s Nigeria and Ghana’s operations in advanced diagnostic and acute care. Glenn has had several hospital management positions with Afrox and joined International SOS in 2000, assuming varied senior managerial positions in the same organization, notably: Country Manager in Vietnam, General Manager in Azerbaijan, Group General Manager of Clinic Operations for Africa, South East Asia and the Russian Federation, General Director in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russian Federation, and General Manager of Medical Services for Northern Asia, China and Mongolia. In 2015, Glenn became Regional Hospital Manager for Ross Healthcare.

Dries

Dries Kok

Dries Kok is currently an Executive Director of Nurture Health. He completed his schooling career at Outeniqua in 2002 and pursued a degree in accounting and finance as well as strategic management and international business at the University of South Africa. In 2012 he co-founded Spescare which specialised in in-patient physical rehabilitation and sub-acute care, with hospital operations in South Africa and Namibia. In 2022 Spescare and Nurture Health successfully completed a merger forming the largest post-acute rehabilitation group in South Africa. Dries have previously served as a member of the Private Healthcare Information Standards Committee as well as Board observer for the NHN

Bilal Khan

Bilal Khan C.A (S.A) is a resident of Pietermaritzburg, KZN. Graduated from the University of Natal – Pietermaritzburg with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Degree (B.Com) and thereafter graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (Accounting) Degree (B.Com (Hons)) from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Completed his SAICA Articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers – Pietermaritzburg and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. After 10 years of auditing, he then decided to venture out into the unknown commerce world. At the age of 36, Bilal is now the Group CFO of the Mid-Medic Holdings Group of Companies which includes amongst others, Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital (Acute), Royal Rehabilitation Hospital (Sub Acute and Rehab) and Midlands Medical Centre Pharmacy. Bilal is also a part time (well actually more social than anything else) road cyclist and runner.

Richard Mills

Richard Mills, a resident of the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Hibiscus Hospital Holdings, and started his career in healthcare with them in 2001 as a Senior Executive. Richard also serves on the board of directors as a Non-Executive Director of Sunshine Hospital, and is also a part time Trustee of the Genesis Trust (Genesis Hope South Africa is an outreach ministry of the Norwegian Settlers Church).

After completing his articles in 1989, Richard joined Sun International and completed the Sun International Executive Management Development Programme at The Graduate School of Business University in Cape Town, where he concluded as the Financial and General Manager of Sun International boutique hotel, Zimbali Lodge.

Richard was elected to the NHN board in 2009 and more recently re-elected in May 2022, representing the day hospital discipline. Richard has two sons and enjoys spending time with the family, likes the outdoors and is passionate about patient care.

Anton Rossouw

Anton Rossouw is the founder and CEO of Life Path Health, a network of private hospitals providing mental health and addiction treatment. He has 35 years of experience in the private hospital industry across various disciplines of hospitals.

Anton has served numerous terms on the boards of both the Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA) and the National Hospital Network (NHN).

Family is very important to Anton and he is married and has a son, daughter and granddaughter. Until recently Anton used to compete on a national level in cycling, but nowadays he regularly mountain bikes just for fitness and recreation and being out in nature.
